Our Why

We believe in animal rights. Every dog is worthy of love, safety, respect, and peace. We approach rescue work and dog ownership holistically. Our mission to advance dog welfare extends beyond rescuing and rehoming dogs. We intend to support adopters and community members with resources to make ownership accessible and sustainable.

To combat the overpopulation crisis, we strive to make compatible adoption matches, ensure the sterilization of our dogs, and support the community to avoid dogs entering the shelter system.

Finally, we hope to inspire our children and others to care for all living creatures with kindness, empathy, and compassion.

Our Team

Hannah Costantino, Co-Founder & CEO

She has a few titles:  cofounder of Tails of Tallassee Rescue, registered nurse, ally, friend, wife, mom, hobby farmer, & chaos coordinator the pack.  She and her husband John live on a farm property in Athens with their three children (Abe, Amos & Ida) and six dogs (Otto, Edith, Lu, Judd, Clementine & Linus).  Following her undergraduate studies at UGA, she completed a Masters in Public Health in 2013, and then she decided to pursue a Masters of Nursing from Augusta University.  Hannah proudly serves her community as a critical care nurse at Piedmont Athens Regional and is passionate about individualizing patient experience.  During the pandemic, she and a group of local moms founded Athens Parent Wellbeing, a nonprofit for mental health support.  In December of 2022, she adopted Lu (our cute coonhound mascot) and fell deeply in love with rescue work.

Hannah went on to adopt a few more times and when John said they could personally own only six dogs, she figured it was time to get creative.  Now, with their combined decade of rescue experience, Hannah and Brianne are bringing their love for serving the greater Athens community and obsession for saving dogs together.

Brianne Carter, Co-Founder & COO

Chaos breeds chaos, right?!  Brianne and Hannah met and instantly bonded with a knowing glance and smile over Brianne’s toddler screaming in the middle of a busy parking lot (literally every day) and refusing to move.  That was the beginning of their feral combined pack, and it has led to so many beautiful things, the most recent of which being this rescue!

Brianne and her husband Chris live in Bishop with their four kids (Kai, Beck, Ayla, & Nash) and two dogs (Maisie & Dooley).  You’ll more than likely always find a foster dog snuck in the house as well (with or without Chris’s knowledge).   They both attended UGA, and now Brianne works full-time for an online school after previously teaching elementary school in Charlotte and Augusta.  She and her husband have also recently opened a business in downtown Watkinsville.  They feel so passionate about Athens and surrounding communities, people and animals alike, and can’t wait to bring it all full circle!

Halle Greenbaum

Halle Greenbaum is an animal lover at heart. She is currently mother to bernedoodle Frank and his feline sister Millie, though if it were up to her, she’d have five more pups. After studying public health at the University of Southern California and obtaining her Master’s in Food Science at UGA, it was a no-brainer for Halle to choose a career where she can serve our furry friends every day. Currently, Halle is a pet food scientist at Perdue Farms, supporting innovation for their Full Moon Brand. She is thrilled to formulate high protein (and delicious) food and treats to human grade standards, and even more thrilled to see so many pets (and sometimes humans) enjoying the fruits of her labor. She is so excited to join the TOTR team as the VP of Content and Nutrition, using her knowledge of AAFCO regulations and pet food ingredients to support fosters and adopters with all of their food related questions! (and make fun content for the socials)!

Bridget Sattele

Bridget has never met a dog she didn’t like, which is probably why, while earning her master’s degree at UGA, she somehow ended up fostering eight of them (with plenty of reassurance from her friend Hannah along the way).

After graduating, she hopped the pond for ten months to be an au pair for an incredible Dutch family! She was able to live a train ride away from her sister Abbey, and they saw (and ate) through Europe. When she came back home, moved in with her grandmother (and bestie) Pat, and started her first “big girl” corporate job, it became clear that fostering wasn’t in the cards for that season.

So when Hannah reached out and asked if she wanted to be part of TOT, it felt like a sign that not all rescue involvement looks the same.

She feels so lucky to serve as VP of Community Outreach & Support — helping with fundraising, foster and adopter relations, and trying not to break the website :)

So if you see anything that needs fixing, let ya girl know!
